About 200 boxers laced up their gloves for a weekend tournament in Dunoon. Male and female boxers from ages 11 to 40 took part in the Dunoon Recreation Hub Boxing Tournament on Saturday. Mayoral committee member for community services and health, Dr Zahid Badroodien said the City’s recreation and parks department organised the event, now in its seventh year, to groom amateur boxers. Inkwenkwezi Boxing Club chairman Andile Simolwana said a seven-year-long partnership between the recreation hub and the club had given boxing in Dunoon a boost. “Boxing has become a popular sport in Dunoon, and we endeavour to develop talent for the future,” he said.
