Henrich Martin has been brought on board to complete a dynamic new coaching trio at Union-Milnerton (Uni-Mil) as the club sets its sights on a competitive upcoming rugby campaign.
Martin is joining backline coach, former Springbok Adrian Jacobs, and head coach, Gareth Jordan, who steps into the role previously held by Isma-eel Dollie.
A former Junior South African rugby player, Dollie has been appointed as the director of rugby.
With a wealth of coaching experience, Martin’s resume includes roles such as the director of sport at Milnerton High School, coaching the Craven Week forwards, and leading the SA Schools A team.
Together, this coaching trio aims to maintain Uni-Mil’s competitive edge and inspire the club to reach new heights under their leadership.
Having spent 17 years in the Milnerton community, Martin is no stranger to the area or its rugby culture.
“I have been the head coach at Milnerton High School since 2009, and during that time, we’ve developed the school into a Premier League B team,” he said.
Martin is particularly excited about working alongside familiar faces, especially Dollie.
“I sense that all the coaches share a deep understanding of the game and a collective vision for the club,” he said.
“But what stands out most is the strong sense of family here. It’s about moving the club forward as one big family.”
Acknowledging Dollie’s impressive coaching legacy, Martin understands the high expectations at the club.
“Isma-eel is one of the best coaches in rugby and has set the bar very high. Now it’s time for us to step up and not disappoint the Milnerton hopefuls.”
Uni-Mil has solidified its status as a top contender in the Western Cape’s premier club rugby division, consistently competing at an elite level.
The recently concluded campaign saw the team reach the semi-finals of the Super League A, where they lost to Durbel in a close match that ended 22-19.
Finishing the round-robin league in third place, with an impressive record of 11 wins from 14 games, speaks volumes about the team’s potential.
“I know these guys are good coaches, and I hope to add value to a club with such a strong track record,” said Martin.
“A club like Uni-Mil deserves nothing but the best from its coaching staff, and that’s completely fair. It would be an incredible story if the Milnerton rugby club could clinch the Super League A title.”
