Representatives of local businesses, schools and community leaders joined the laptop handover ceremony at Milnerton SAPS.

The non-profit organisation, Warrior Woman received 10 laptops as a donation from a South African branch of an international software company.

The handover took place on Thursday December 10, at the Milnerton police station where the non-profit was joined by Joe Slovo community leaders, Sinenjongo High School principal, Khuselwa Nopote, pupils of Sinenjongo, Young Warriors (the youth chapter of Warrior Woman) as well as local businesses and partners of the organisation.

According to the founder of Warrior Woman, Dr Fay Nqobola, her organisation is partnering with companies that will put her Young Warriors through IT training courses to empower them. She pledged to do the same with 36 pupils from Marconi Beam Primary as well to help them get basic computer skills.

“Our organisation wanted to involve the community of Joe Slovo and the local schools because they always support our efforts. And we wanted to strengthen the existing relationships we have,” said Dr Nqobola.
